We first got into dogs in 1984 with our first dog Tally a pure bred Golden Retriever (Goldcap's Touch of Silk CD TT) in which we were doing Obedience and Agility. In the club we belonged to there were a couple of Doberman Breeders. We began to be fascinated with their Doberman dogs' temperaments and their enthusiasm. So we got our first Doberman who was a black and tan bitch, Veriann's Oreo bred by Anne Koots. We purchased "Oreo" as a pet to do Obedience, Scent Hurdle Racing and Agility. She was a hand full. Oreo was a character who was always up to something, and although trained to the Utility Level of Obedience, we were never able to get a CD Title on her. But Oreo excelled in Scent Hurdle Racing, Agility and as a household pet.

Over the past 12 years we have worked with a local dog club when they had rescue Dobermans and other working Dogs. Our Golden Retriever came in handy, as she was the best dog to socialize the rescued Dobermans. The new rescue always got to see her first. She had perfect Golden Retriever Temperament. She did not care about anything, which was the opposite of a new rescue who were always full of energy and themselves. Tally always helped to take the edge off their new rescue home.

After attending our first U.S. Doberman National Specialty in Phoenix, Arizona in 1991 we were totally in awe of the Doberman Breed, the Doberman World, and Doberman People. We went about acquiring our first Conformation dog. We had fallen in love at this U.S. National with a beautiful black bitch named CH Flagship's Taylor Made handled by Gene Haupt at the time, and we decided we wanted a male out of her sire, CH Array Point Blank, "Yogi". "Yogi" was bred and owned by Linda Rayman. In 1992 we approached Linda Rayman to purchase a Show Dog out of "Yogi". After Several months Linda found us a 6 month old dog named Foxfire's Dreams of Kings. "Riggs" easily finished his Canadian Championship and was campaigned in Canada to # 3 Doberman. He also finished his American Championship at the age of 16 months with two five-point majors. Riggs was a Multi Best in Show Winner in Canada, and a Multi Best in Specialty Winner in the United States. Riggs also competed in the United States' and placed in the Top 20 during the years of 1996 & 1997. Riggs was used limited in breeding, but produced some beautiful American and Canadian Champions.

We never were able to get quite the right bitch to start our breeding program with, but in 2001 while attending the U.S. Doberman National Specialty in Fitchburg, Kentucky we spotted a beautiful red bitch in the 6 - 9 Month classes - Marienburg's Dixie Chick owned by Mary Rodgers of Marienburg Kennels. We purchased her and brought her home with us. Dixie then became the foundation for Baystar Dobermans.

Dixie is a Canadian and American Champion. To date, Dixie has had two litters, one from CH Marienburg's Born to Run, and produced a litter of 9 puppies which includes AM CH Baystar's Aquaman. Aquaman finished his American Championship at the age of 11 months, with a Best of Breed from the classes and a Group 4th in the Working Group in California. Dixie's second litter was sired by CH Inaqui de Black Shadow, which produced AM CH Baystar's Cuts Like a Knife, who finished his American Championship at 10 months of age and AM CAN CH Baystar's Could I Be Your Girl who finished her American Championship at 19 months of age.
